Internship and Experience Funding Application

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Washington College Experiential Learning or Internship Grant available through the Helms Fund and Hodson Trust.

Guidelines:

Grants are available to students in all majors as well as undeclared students.
Grants must be dedicated to costs incurred during a learning experience or internship. Those costs may include transportation, food, housing, and other related expenses.
Grants may NOT be used to ask for salary or to replace income lost from a job due to participation in an internship.
Grants will NOT cover the costs of tuition or personal electronic devices such as laptops.
Students may not receive two overlapping awards for the same experience or internship from different sources (i.e. Starr Center, CES, Cater, Toll, etc.). It is possible to apply for supplemental funding.
Grant requests will be reviewed and approved by the Hodson Grant Review Panel.
The application only needs to be filled out once to be considered for the Helms Fund and/or Hodson Trust.

Requirements:

Applicants must be currently enrolled students in good academic standing at Washington College.
Graduating seniors are not eligible to apply for summer funding.
Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. If below, must provide an explanation.
Internships applicants must have secured an internship prior to submitting an application OR be in the interview process for an internship.
Deadline for 2026 summer funding applications is April 5, 2026. Decisions will be made by April 29. All applicants will be notified via email.

NOTE: If a student is found to be dishonest in this section, the application will be declined and the student will be barred from accessing the Grant Funds in the future.
